A Tribute To A Wonderful Woman: President Cory Aquino
by: Bong & Jing Navarro
We would like to thank Madame President Aquino for the gift of democracy. We were just in our teens when we heard about the bloodless revolution that oust the Marcoses and his cronies in 1986. It was an act of courage to lead the Filipino people to put a stop to dictatorship and the sufferings of the nation. Who would have thought that a mere housewife could move the people to rise to its feet and say, “enough is enough?” We were really amazed about how she mobilized the whole nation to claim its freedom. It was a turning point to our country to have a lady president for the first time. We salute her dedication to govern the people with such love and dedication. Indeed she was a woman true to her words and made a difference not just to our country but to the world as well. Even if we were just considered a third world nation but the world nod its head of approval for the courage of what she had done. It’s true that someone could make a nation fight the battle peacefully.

President Cory was well loved by us because we have seen that she dearly affected many lives from the common people to the rich ones. She was no respecter of status and stature. She had that appeal and charisma to move people to fight for their rights and to stand for what they believe in.
We salute her for her goodness and faithfulness for advocating democracy and for administering freedom of speech. Even if she was no longer in power, she still had the power through the years over the people as testified by the thousands of people who acknowledged her greatness up to the last glimpse of her. She really lived a full life. She truly deserves the respect due her. We are really grateful to have known in our lifetime such a wonderful lady who made a difference. We maybe just ordinary citizens but knew that she change the course of our nation for the better.
We can truly say that she was a true Filipino worth emulating. What an admirable woman who made a real impact in this dark world. As she is laid to rest to her final destination, all we can say is, we are proud to have her as our president. She lived up to what Ecclesiastes 7:1 says; “A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth.”
